Our Primary Missions:

To empower older adults to live with dignity. To help family members find relief from the stresses of caregiving.

SENIOR DIRECTION is a family operated partnership, headed by Mary Shapiro, MSG. Her dedication to the health and well-being of elder citizens and their families was ingrained at an early age by her late father, noted Manhattan physician Benjamin Klein, and was further inspired by her mother's courageous battle with dementia.

Ms. Shapiro has more than two decades' experience as a gerontologist, family counselor and educator. Her education includes a BA from St. John's University and a Master of Science in Gerontology and Human Services from the College of New Rochelle, and additional studies at the Brookdale Center on Aging and the Department of Geriatrics at Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Medicine.

She is a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers and has served as chairperson of the Patient and Family Services Committee of the Southern Nevada chapter of the National Alzheimer's Association.

Her work has been recognized by various governmental and professional institutions, as well as the general media, including numerous stories in the Las Vegas Review-Journal (click for sample article).

She is assisted by her sister, Cornelia Kopp, a veteran hotel executive and educator who is Senior Direction's administrator and brings to bear a solid grounding in people skills and managerial expertise as well as a strong general knowledge of the Nevada community.
